Jalen Williams on Cody Williams: He's the ideal player for what the NBA is going to

Jalen Williams on Cody Williams: Very special. I think he’s the ideal player for what the NBA is going to. Being a tall, athletic, lanky wing, defend multiple positions, high IQ player, likes to play the right way, values winning the most, can shoot the three-ball really well, has a three-level game. Just what the NBA is moving towards. He’s kind of built to play the fast-paced NBA game.

More on this storyline

Has all the advice your brother given you been spot on? Cody Williams: Most definitely. Big things like ignore the media, ignore the distractions. Obviously I can use media to make money, but just in terms of the mock drafts, really kind of throw it out the window, kind of how I’m going to be as good as I want to be. Just in terms of I have all the resources and all the connections I need in order to become the best player I can be. -via HoopsHype / June 25, 2024
As an added twist, Cody Williams is the younger brother of OKC forward Jalen Williams. The two Williams brothers spoke to ThunderWire about the possibility of playing together as teammates as members of the Thunder, as well as what will happen if they end up squaring off as opponents. “It would be dope if we get to play with each other on the same team and share that experience,” Jalen said. “It’s rare to make it to the NBA and it’s even more rare to get your brother to make it there with you. And it’s even more rare to play on the same team.” “That would be cool for all those stars to line up.” He added. -via OKC Thunder Wire / June 25, 2024
“I was sad,” Jalen said. “As vague of an answer as that is, we have a really close family. That vibe is not something you can buy or just make. Especially with our ages, there’s no real age gap on our team. Everyone is kinda the same age and going through the same experiences together.” Giddey began his career with the Thunder but found his role shift throughout last season and playoffs. The NBA recently closed its investigation into off-the-court activity after being able to find no credible wrongdoing. Jalen explained that playing for the Bulls could represent a fresh start for Giddey. “I think Josh had to go through a lot this year,” Jalen continued. “I was glad we were there and able to help him with all of it and be there with him. And it was really fun to play alongside him. He’s going to go to Chicago and kill it out there and bloom.” -via OKC Thunder Wire / June 25, 2024
