Police identify woman found dead in southeast Austin abandoned home
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- On Tuesday, the Austin Police Department identified the person found dead in southeast Austin last week.
Shortly after 4 p.m. on June 21, APD responded to a report of a dead person in the 2600 block of Metcalfe Road, according to a news release from police. When officers arrived, they found an "obviously deceased" woman in an abandoned house.
That woman was later identified by police as Alyssa Rivera. She was pronounced dead "a short time later," according to police.
APD detectives believe Rivera was murdered in the abandoned home "by an unknown suspect," the release said.
Anyone with any information can call APD at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Capital Area Crime Stoppers at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
This is now being investigated as Austin's 27th homicide of 2024, according to police.
