Summer’s Over for Danielle Olivera

“As a founder-CEO,” she’s exiting Bravo’s Summer House.

As Summer House’s Kyle Cooke infamously slurred, “Summer should be fun.” For seven-year veteran Danielle Olivera, however, it seems all that prophesied fun has finally come to an end. In a statement posted to Instagram Tuesday, the 35-year-old wrote that she does not currently have plans to return to the Bravo reality series in a full-time capacity. Olivera joined Summer House back in 2018 during its second season. Following the breakup of one of its most publicized (and criticized) couples, the show is set to pick up production for its ninth season in July.

“I wanted to share that I’ve come to the heartbreaking decision to not return as a full time cast member on the upcoming season of Summer House,” Olivera wrote. “Obviously, this decision didn’t come without a tremendous amount of thought. Ultimately, I just need to trust my gut. If I can’t put 100% of myself into filming, genuinely and authentically, it really doesn’t feel right doing it in a full time capacity.”

“Right now I need to protect and prioritize the things that matter most to me — my company, my people, and of course myself,” she added.

Olivera recently founded an app called Donne, which she has compared to the technology seen in Cher Horrowitz’s closet in Clueless. As she repeatedly reminded her castmates all throughout the seventh and eighth seasons, this new role has consumed much of the New Yorker’s time and energy, spilling over into her scenes on the show. Sadly, the fan response has been mostly elated with much of the Bravo-verse surprised it took her this long to exit the series. The network will likely fill Olivera’s shoes with a new female castmate, though she hasn’t ruled out returning in a “friend of” role, nor has she mentioned anything about her involvement in Winter House. While we ponder whether it’s Danielle’s time to roll up that beach towel for good, I’ll let this TikToker offer their perfect closing remarks: “I wanna thank her for being messy on TV.”
