STRUGGLING families can get a whopping £100 income boost to help them with food and energy costs but they must act fast to avoid missing out.

Torbay Council revealed who’s eligible for the boost and explained how to access the cash.

It wrote on Facebook: “Are you missing out on a £100 Household Support Fund payment?

“If you live in Torbay, get a means-tested welfare benefit and either have dependent children living with you, or you or your partner get Personal Independence Payments, Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance.”

On the website the council state someone eligible must:

  • Be over 16 years old
  • Live in Torbay
  • Live in a household with children
  • Live in a household in receipt of Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Disability living Allowance (DLA) or Attendance Allowance (AA)

Households can also apply for a one off payment If they are in receipt of a means tested welfare benefit and either have children in your household or you or your partner are entitled to PIP, DLA or AA.

If you are not in receipt of a welfare benefit you can also still get the payment if you meet certain conditions,

These include if you have children in your household or you or your partner are in receipt of PIP, DLA or AA and have a low disposable income of £50 per week or less after all essential expenditures.

In this case you will qualify for a one off award of between £250 and £500 depending on the size of your household.

To receive the boost households must apply with an application form and supply evidence of their circumstances which can be emailed or posted to the council.

The application will then be assessed and the applicant will be notified if they will be given the money or not.

Those who live in other areas can also have access to similar finincial help.

The Government website advises checking in with local councils to see what support is available in your area.

It comes as we told how a cost of living payment worth £500 is paid into bank accounts now.

The cash support, which can be claimed as support for energy and food bills, is available through the government’s Household Support Fund.

Each local authority gets a different portion of funding depending on the size of the catchment area, population, and number of vulnerable households.

The voucher or grant amounts vary by location, so you must check to see what you can get and how your council will pay you.

Now thousands of residents in West Devon can apply for the cash.

The council says each application is assessed on a case by case basis and the cash is paid by bank transfer.
