HVCC board fires president after staffer complaint

The board of trustees at Hudson Valley Community College voted to terminate the school's president.

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The board of trustees at Hudson Valley Community College voted to terminate the school's president. Dr. Roger Ramsammy had been on paid administrative leave since May 15 after an employee filed a complaint against him.

The board voted to end Dr. Ramsammy's contract on Tuesday. Details of the complaint made against the now-former president have not been made public.

Former Vice President for Student Affairs Louis Coplin was named interim president after Dr. Ramsammy was placed on leave. He continues to hold the position. HVCC Board of Trustees Chairman Neil Kelleher said they are working to begin the search for a new president.

Dr. Ramsammy had served as president of HVCC since July 2018.
