New Iberia brothers start business to stay busy and make difference over the summer

Cornelius and Demarceo Garrison are two brothers from New Iberia trying to not only raise money this summer but guide the community in a better direction.

NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) – Cornelius and Demarceo Garrison are two brothers from New Iberia trying to not only raise money this summer but guide the community in a better direction.

"We like to see smiles on people's face because it brings joy to us. It makes us realize that we are doing good, and we want to help the community grow better and stop all the violence," said Cornelius.

15-year-old Cornelius and 21-year-old Demarceo raised over $1,500 in the first two weeks of being open. Cornelius says the money they are raising is for him to get football equipment and to stay busy over the summer by helping people in the community. "I'm playing football, but it's really not about that because I could get that regardless. It is just about helping people and make something affordable for them."

From candy, to chips, to chili dogs, to cold cups, snack brothers has what you need for a summer snack and a quick cool down. Jackie is one New Iberia resident who says she is proud of the work the brothers are doing and hope others can take influence from them. "Hopefully everybody else will catch on. Use your talent. If you take one foot and put it in front, God will push you and guide you where you need to be."

Snack brothers will be opened from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. everyday over the summer with hopes to get their own building by the end of the year.
