Fitness struggles mean Spurs are ready to cash in on first-team star – Alasdair Gold
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham remain open to the possibility of offloading Richarlison this summer if a big enough offer comes their way.
Richarlison suffered from injuries last season
Richarlison has had an injury-hit campaign, having had multiple spells on the treatment table but since December, the striker has impressed almost every single time he has played and boasts of an impressive goals-to-games ratio in 2023-24.
However, despite this, there were plenty of rumours earlier in the summer suggesting that he could be on his way out of Hotspur Way, with Saudi Arabian sides backed to make an offer for him (The Standard)
The speculation has died down recently after the forward himself rubbished talks of an exit last month, describing the rumours as ‘fake news’ and insisting that he remains happy at Spurs (beIN SPORTS).
Tottenham’s stance on Richarlison has not changed
While reporting on Spurs’ quest for a new number nine in his latest column, Gold has said that Richarlison’s future at North London is far from secure.
The journalist claims that as a result of the Brazilian’s struggles to remain fit last season, Tottenham remain open to listening to any serious offers that come in for him this summer.
Gold points out that the cash raised from the 27-year-old’s sale could be reinvested in new big-money acquisitions such as Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
Spurs Web Opinion
Now that Richarlison has made it clear that he is not willing to move to Saudi Arabia, I do not see him leaving Spurs.
No one else apart from Saudi clubs is going to offer £50m or more for the Brazil international this summer and I doubt Tottenham would sell him for a lower fee.
