‘Thank you for the shoe I didn’t know I needed’ cry Primark shoppers as iconic 90s footwear returns for £22

SHOPPERS have thanked Primark for the “shoe they didn’t know they needed” after spotting a 90s footwear trend has returned to stores.

Fashion fans have even tipped the £22 shoe as a must-have buy in Rita Ora’s new boho collection.

Her “festival season” summer range dropped in Primark stores across the country last week.

Speaking excitedly about the new arrivals, the Anywhere singer, 33, said: “This is one of my fav collections so far, I love the energy and atmosphere of a festival, and being on-stage through the summer is one of the best experiences as an artist.

“Hope you love this range as much as I loved designing it.”

The 190-piece collection starts from £3 with the most expensive item – a brown faux leather biker jacket – priced at £36.

Delighted shoppers are already loving the revival of noughties festival fashion, as one gushed: “Rita has done it again.”

A second, meanwhile, wrote: “Love it all, poor bank account.”

And her new line is just another example of fashion trends going, coming back, leaving, and returning again with a bang.

Noughties and ’90s styles have been storming the high street in recent months – we’re looking at you baby tees, disc belts and leopard print.

Now, an iconic footwear trend is back too – and we’re not talking about ballet pumps or jelly shoes.

The classic Swedish clogs were a boho staple for celebs including Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung and Kate Moss back in the day.

The Sex and the City star has since given their return her seal of approval after being spotted in them while filming And Just Like That’s new season last month.

So it’s no surprise that high street stores are embracing the clip clopping style again with New Look, River Island and ASOS all stocking their own versions.

But it’s a budget-friendly option in Primark’s Rita Ora collection that has caught the eye of shoppers.

The black chunky heel studded clogs are priced at £22.

They boast a platform heel, come in faux leather, and are available in sizes 3-8.

If you’re looking for something slightly more delicate, you can also pick up their clog mule, in white or brown, for £16.

Primark bosses said: “These chunky clogs are bringing the drama — don’t think twice about indulging!”

They added: “Rita Ora’s latest collection has arrived to help keep your summer shoe collection fresh, and these heeled chunky clogs are doing the heavy lifting!

“With a convenient slip-on design, these block heel clogs are a great option for easy styling during the warmer months.

“They have a faux leather front for a timeless look and a block heel for a comfier wearing experience.

“Decorated with shiny stud detailing, as well as a buckle strap that can be worn around the ankle or pushed forward, these understated shoes will be a unique addition to your collection.

“Pair effortlessly with anything from a mini skirt and cami top to tailored trousers and a racer bodysuit to achieve a stylish ensemble!”

After picking up a pair, shopper Antonia said: “I got these clogs, not to everyone’s taste but I thought they were brilliant.

“You can wear them as slingbacks or you can just push the buckle forward and wear them as mules.

“I love these. I wore them today, they’re so comfortable. I did have to size up two sizes though. I will get use out of them over summer.”

Fashion stylist Emma, from Glasgow, is also a fan.

She said: “They are coming. I will accept no negative comments on this purchase.

“Wee Rita Ora done well with this latest collection. Thank you for the shoe I didn’t know I needed.

“I’ve decided I’m bringing these back into fashion. Can’t wait to be clip clopping about with you all.”

All the 90s trends that are making a comeback

WE might be in 2024, but fashion fans are looking to the past when it comes to new styles. So what trends from the 90s are making a comeback these days?

Claw clips

These hair accessories were a huge trend back in the 90s, but are now most popular among those trying out the “clean girl” aesthetic. Designers such as Prada have released their own versions, while there are thousands of colours and styles to choose from on the high street.

Platform flip flops

Again a popular choice among fashionistas in the 90s, these heels have made a comeback with designers such as Balenciaga trying their luck with their own styles.

Cargo pants

Once worn by the stars of All Saints, cargo pants became a popular trend for teens in the 90s. But they’ve now had a fashion overhaul, with stars such as Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber all putting their own spin on the trend.

Jeans and a nice top

It was the phrase that defined fashion for a decade, and now famous faces such as Sofia Richie are sporting the reinvented trend – pairing their own denims with a more sophisticated top. But are you willing to dig your jeans and nice tops out of the wardrobe for a second time?
