Aldi reveals 27 exact locations where it plans to open new stores – could one be coming near you?

ALDI has revealed the 27 exact locations where it hopes to open new stores in the next few years – one could be near you.

The budget supermarket has gone through a rapid expansion in recent years and now has a wish-list of locations it wants to open next.

Last month, it called on Brits up and down the country to tell them where a branch was needed.

Having gone through thousands of suggestions, it has now drawn up a list of the sites that could soon see a supermarket open.

The list is by no means final or done and dusted, it is just a wish list of places they would like to open a store.

There is a long way to go before things are finalised and a brand-new store can start trading.

Areas under consideration include London, Surrey, Hampshire, Manchester and Liverpool.

The wish list is still open to suggestions as well, so if you spot a potential location that fits the bill you can email the retailer at: realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk.

Any site has to be able to accommodate a 20,000 sq ft store with around 100 parking spaces.

Ideally, the location will be near a main road with good visibility and access.

The supermarket says it is also on the lookout for sites to accommodate its Aldi Local store format inside the M25, which are around 5,000 sq ft in size.

The supermarket chain currently has more than 1,020 stores in the UK but aims to have 1,500.

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “We want to make high quality food accessible to all, but we can’t do that while there are still some towns and areas that either don’t have an Aldi or have capacity for additional stores.

“We recognise there is huge demand in certain regions for more stores, which is why we decided to get the public’s input on our latest list of priority locations.

“They have helped us identify where demand is greatest and we will continue to work to bring Aldi to as many people as possible.”

Meanwhile, Aldi on Wednesday announced it would be stocking shelves with a bumper American range from Thursday.

New York beef deli burgers can now be snapped up for £3.99, while a dozen-pack of burger buns will set you back just £1.99.

In a creative move, the budget supermarket is putting cheeseburger crisps on offer.

They’ll also stock packets with buffalo wing crisps – both cost £1.15.

The moves comes in time for Fourth of July celebrations for those from across the Atlantic.
