Next government must bat away eco fanatics – UK cannot jeopardise energy security by relying solely on electricity

Out of power

A REVOLT against Net Zero could pull the plug on any Government, even with the sort of majority Labour might soon enjoy.

The rise of the Right in the EU is a rebellion against mass immigration and complacent elites.

But it is also about being forced to pay more for a lower quality of life by rich politicians in thrall to climate hysteria.

Ex-Labour Home Secretary Lord Blunkett nails the problem on this page.

And it’s not just about the staggering cost of inadequate battery cars or feeble heat pumps.

It’s about jeopardising our energy security by relying solely on electricity, mainly produced by wind and solar.

The Sun has warned before of the catastrophe of widespread power cuts, via natural disaster or cyber-attack,  in a 21st Century society run by computers, smartphones and broadband.

Especially if we are having to run cars and heat homes with electricity too.

So whoever is in Downing Street next Friday must bat away the eco fanatics and get real over what can be done and what the public will stand.

New nuclear plants will be vital.  Perhaps burning hydrogen too.

Politicians who leave the nation short of power will soon lose it themselves.

Who’s the bigot

DID Doctor Who travel back in time to some dark era where pompous rich men could still tell female politicians to “shut up” about women’s rights?

What possessed  luvvie David Tennant to wish that Tory minister Kemi  Badenoch would cease to exist . . . other than dogma, misogyny and infantile tribal politics?

And yet he is utterly certain HIS trans views put him on the side of the angels.

Ms Badenoch is not remotely  prejudiced against trans people.

Like millions of women she is guided by a determination to protect female-only spaces and rights.

Well done, then, to Rishi Sunak and Labour’s Liz Kendall for calling  Tennant out.

Telling opponents who hold justifiable and considered opinions to “shut up” exposes only this:

That you are no more sophisticated than the left-wing children Labour will shortly allow to vote.

Putin’s pawn

FORGET Julian Assange . . . spare a thought for a real journalist wrongly jailed on false charges.

Evan Gershkovich of the Wall Street Journal yesterday began his sham “trial” in Russia.

Not even Putin truly believes he is a US spy. He is just a pawn in the tyrant’s sick game.

We pray he is soon released.
