Here's Why Sabrina Carpenter Is Eligible for Best New Artist at 2025 Grammys, Despite Having Five Previous Albums

Sabrina Carpenter has been making music for nearly 10 years, but she still has a shot at winning Best New Artist at the Grammys.

The 25-year-old singer is getting ready for the release of her sixth studio album Short n’ Sweet, which will be eligible for awards at the 2025 Grammys.

Sabrina has a chance at being nominated in all four of the top categories, including Best New Artist. But how is that possible?

Keep reading to find out more…

Billboard discovered that Sabrina meets the eligibility requirements thanks to her newfound success with songs “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” which both have become Top 3 singles on the Hot 100 chart.

“While there will be no specified maximum number of releases, the Screening Committee will be charged with determining whether the artist had attained a breakthrough or prominence prior to the eligibility year. Such a determination would result in disqualification,” the Grammys rules state.

Prior to this eligibility year, Sabrina had peaked at No. 48 on the Hot 100 with her song “Skin” back in February 2021. It’s pretty clear that 2024 is her breakthrough year!

Artists can only submit for the Best New Artist category three times in their career and Sabrina has only submitted twice.

So, even though Sabrina has five previous albums and will soon drop a sixth album, she’s still considered a new artist by the Grammys standards!
