UAlbany student hit by illegal dirt bike heading home
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The University at Albany student who was hit by a speeding, illegal dirt bike in April in Albany is heading home. Alexa Kropf's family said she has been in a rehabilitation facility for about a month.
Her family said she has started walking, and her speech is improving. Her father, Jim, told NEWS10 that her return home is encouraging for everyone. She still has a long recovery and will undergo surgery in July.
The alleged dirt bike operator, Austin Breyette, is charged with assault and tampering with physical evidence. Investigators said he fled the scene after running Kropf over on Hudson Avenue. He's also accused of trying to hide the dirt bike.
He has pleaded not guilty and is due in court next week.
