This Is Not a Nepo-Baby Couple I Saw Coming
While the next-generation nepo babies are picking up their high-school diplomas and marching off into adulthood, some are also dipping their silver spoons into an elite dating pool of fellow famous kids. According to “Page Six,” Phoebe Gates — the 21-year-old Stanford grad and daughter of the now-divorced Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates — is dating the grandson of Paul McCartney. Microsoft x the Beatles: not a collaboration I saw coming.
The youngest of the Gates brood first posted a photo with Beatles descendent Arthur Donald in October during a trip to Paris. The Instagram post quickly sparked dating rumors and upset a slew of commenters who were apparently attached to her previous boyfriend, a fellow Stanford student named Robert Ross she began dating sometime in 2022. It’s unclear when Donald officially entered the picture, but Gates confirmed in an interview with Nylon last week that she and Donald are, in fact, dating, referring to the 25-year-old as her “boyfriend.” The story chronicled Gates’s fast-tracked graduation from Stanford after just three years, accompanied by photos of Donald giving his partner a “lift post-ceremony” on his back.
Donald, meanwhile, is the oldest son of Paul McCartney’s daughter Mary and her ex-husband, TV producer Alistair Donald, per “Page Six.” He reportedly graduated from Yale in 2021 and was previously rumored to have dated yet another fellow nepo baby, Ava Phillippe (the daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe). Donald seems to keep a relatively low profile, with a locked Instagram page and only eight posts to date, so it’ll be interesting to see how his budding relationship with an activist and CEO-in-the-making affects his privacy. For now, congrats to this happy couple! Can’t wait to see the “casual” dates these two go on.
