Tree falls on car during storm in Queens; 3 people extricated: FDNY

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Three people were extricated from a car in Queens on Wednesday after a tree fell on it during a summer storm, according to the FDNY.

It happened in Fort Totten Park around 9 p.m. One person was critically injured, while the two others had serious but non-life-threatening injuries, per the FDNY.

A tree also came down in Middle Village, pulling live wires with it, according to Citizen App video.

In Bayside, a large tree branch fell right against a parked van and blocked part of the road.

Firefighters in West New York, N.J. were on the scene of a downed tree blocking a portion of Kennedy Boulevard.

The storm also paused Game Two of the Subway Series. Citi Field crews were seen on video racing to roll out a tarp as rain and wind pounded fans in the stands.

The Mets later beat the Yankees after the storm.

Severe weather also delayed LIRR and Metro-North service amid reports of downed trees on tracks.

Utility companies across the tri-state area are also working to restore power to thousands Thursday morning.
