Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly makes public apology to ‘bad boy’ back-up QB she slept with to make future husband jealous
KELLY Stafford has apologized to husband Matthew’s former team-mate Joe Cox.
The registered nurse, 35, caused a storm earlier last week when she said she slept with the “bad boy” back-up quarterback to make her future husband jealous.

“To this beautiful fam,” she wrote under a photo of Cox and his family.
“I am sorry for the media storm that happened last week that made its way into your lives
“You had ZERO involvement in what I spoke about and in fact it was y’alls relationship in college that I looked up to and wanted for me and Matthew.
“You were the couple that everyone thinks Matthew and I was… y’all were the UGA QB and cheerleader that met and never let go. I love y’all.”
The Staffords met while at Georgia, where Matthew starred for the Bulldogs from 2006 until 2008 and Kelly was a cheerleader.
The pair married in 2015 and now have four kids together.
Kelly revealed that at first Matthew was keen to keep their relationship casual.
“It wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first,” she admitted in a recent appearance on the Off The Vine podcast.
“I hated him, I loved him. I dated the backup [quarterback] to p** him off – which worked.
“Matthew is so sweet – a southern gentleman, all that stuff.
“And the backup was the complete opposite and it upset him.
“At one point, [Matthew] waited and followed me out and got in my car and wouldn’t get out.
“I was like, ‘This is amazing, it’s working!’
“I was like, ‘Get out of my car!’ And he was like, ‘He’s not right for you.'”
Matthew, 36, is currently gearing up for the 2024 NFL season with the Los Angeles Rams.
