'What an insult': Republican raked over the coals for proclaiming IVF 'destroys life'
Ever since the Alabama Supreme Court tried to outlaw in-vitro fertilization care, Republicans around the country have scrambled to push back and at least verbally pledge to protect access to the fertility procedure, aware that even thousands of conservative, religious families have benefited from the procedure.
But Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) begs to differ.
The pro-Trump congressman, who mounted a short-lived run for the GOP Senate nomination against Democrat Jon Tester, has plastered the outside of his office with anti-IVF posters and proclaimed on X, "IVF destroys more life than Planned Parenthood annually!" — a reference to the fact that the procedure requires the creation of large numbers of embryos, most of which cannot be implanted and will ultimately be discarded as medical waste. This has led some anti-abortion hardliners to conclude that IVF is also equivalent to killing human life.
Rosendale's social media account was swarmed with angry comments, including from people who required IVF to have children and have the procedure to thank for being able to grow their family.

"Keep going with these unpopular policies, Republicans," wrote the account @lissawriedt. "Also, add your desire to have a national abortion ban and the end of no-fault divorce. Don't forget you are against female leaders now, or ever. I'm sure you'll easily win elections in the future."
"If Republicans get their way they'll tell you who you can marry, if you can divorce, if you can use contraception, if you're able to get pregnant, if you have to die to 'protect' your fetus, what type of family is allowed to adopt, and exactly how you can raise your kids. Freedom," wrote the account @Lukuion.
"Keep it up," wrote the account @ThisFlyin. "You are losing more Republican women by the day. Thanks for the free campaign advertisements!"
