East Topeka house fire causes $30,000 in damage

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Firefighters doused a house fire in east Topeka Wednesday which caused thousands of dollars in damage.

The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) received a call about the fire around 9 p.m. on June 26 for an address in the 200 block of SE Davies St. Firefighters arriving at the scene found smoke and flames coming from several windows. A search of the building did not identify any residents.

Rosie Nichols, City of Topeka spokeswoman, said in a press release the cause of the fire has not been found yet. A total of $30,000 in damage was done to the home which did not contain any working smoke detectors.
