Six Flags Great Escape is celebrating its 70th anniversary in Queensbury. You can take a trip down memory lane for the 70th Anniversary Celebration Presented by Coca-Cola from June 27 to July 7.

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Six Flags Great Escape is celebrating its 70th anniversary in Queensbury. You can take a trip down memory lane for the 70th Anniversary Celebration Presented by Coca-Cola from June 27 to July 7.

Originally opening as Storytown USA in 1954, the park changed its name to The Great Escape in the 1980s. The company that would later be known as Six Flags bought the park in 1996.

Celebration events

  • Cowboy Style: a western-themed variety/circus show called Cowboy Style at Center Stage every two hours each day starting at noon
  • Adirondack Raptors Local Birds of Prey Presentation: Starting June 28 at the Jolly Tree Theater hourly from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Patriotic Parade: Timbertown characters will have a parade from Timbertown to Ghost Town escorted by flag bearers playing drum and fife music
  • Live music: Live music in the Fest Area every day in the park

Other ongoing entertainment throughout the park includes the Swan Boats, Mother Goose Story Time at the Big Shoe, Storytown Meet and Greets, and an interactive game show at Jolly Tree Theater called "Zing, Bing and Sing."
