Lafayette woman arrested, charged with attempted murder of boyfriend
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A Lafayette woman was arrested Wednesday on a warrant accusing her of stabbing her boyfriend in May, authorities said.
Dorothy Watkins, 25, is charged with one count of attempted first degree murder.
Police report an incident on May 24 in which a man said he was awakened at approximately 2:30 a.m. by his girlfriend stabbing him. Authorities said the suspect stabbed the victim numerous times to the back and head before running away.
The incident occurred at a residence in the 1500 block of Louisiana Avenue, police said.
LPD investigators identified the suspect as Watkins and obtained an arrest warrant for one count attempted first degree murder.
The suspect was located Wednesday, arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish jail. Bond details were not released.
