SpaceX tanker passes through McPherson on way to California

A tanker being delivered to SpaceX facilities in California is passing through Kansas.

MCPHERSON, Kan. (KSNW) -- A tanker being delivered to SpaceX facilities in California is passing through Kansas.

The tanker was in McPherson late Thursday morning, where law enforcement and other personnel helped the extra-wide load safely navigate through town, through a railroad crossing and underneath utility wires that were temporarily lifted to avoid snagging on the passing cargo.

McPherson police say the tanker is traveling west on U.S. Highway 56 as it continues on to its destination. The tanker passed through Emporia on Tuesday and Marion on Wednesday.

U.S. 56 terminates in Springer, New Mexico, where there are multiple state highways and interstates it could connect to to reach its final destination.
