Jersey City launches affordable housing lottery portal

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (PIX11) -- Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop announced he has teamed up with the Department of Housing, Economic Development and Commerce (HEDC) and the Division of Affordable Housing to launch an affordable housing lottery portal.

Fulop said the portal is a one-stop shop open 24/7 for low—and medium-income households. It allows people to search and apply for affordable housing in Jersey City.

“We are adding affordable housing opportunities at historic rates throughout Jersey City and this portal is the next step in enhancing housing equity and accessibility,” said Fulop. “This portal is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live in safe, secure and affordable homes.”

Jersey City will host three sessions open to those who want to learn more about how the portal works. The dates for the sessions at the City Hall Annex at 4 Jackson Sq. are:

  • July 3, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • July 8, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • July 23, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
