Mets Minors Game Chat: Brandon Sproat Pitching on SNY

The Mets are off on Thursday after finishing their two-game sweep of the Yankees. They will be back in action on Friday as they start a series against the Astros at Citi Field, but in the meantime, let’s focus on the Mets minor league affiliates.

Here are each of the matchups and when they start:

Syracuse Mets (48-28) vs. Buffalo Bisons (37-39) – 6:35 p.m.

  • Brett Baty hit two home runs on Wednesday, and he now has eight home runs in 65 at-bats since his demotion to Triple-A. He has played four errorless games at second base so far.
  • Luisangel Acuña over his last 15 games: .394/.437/.515, 5 XBH, 12 RBI, 6 SB. During that span, he has played 7 games at SS, 6 games in CF and 2 games at 2B.
  • Right-hander Dom Hamel starts tonight. Opponents have a .911 OPS against Hamel in three June starts.

Portland Sea Dogs (37-33) vs. Binghamton Rumble Ponies (35-33) – 6:35 p.m.

  • Despite the mixed results, it could be great news for the Mets’ bullpen that hard-thrower Bryce Montes de Oca is back in action for Binghamton. BMDO has made two rehab appearances for Binghamton (five overall), allowing runs in four of them. He did pitch a perfect inning with two strikeouts in his first outing for Binghamton this year.
  • Mets outfield prospect Alex Ramírez is hoping to put a brutal May (.497 OPS) behind him with a .995 OPS over his last eight games.
  • Right-hander Brandon Sproat starts tonight for Binghamton. The 23-year-old has a 2.27 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 40 strikeouts in his first 35 2/3 Double-A innings.
  • This game is on SNY.

Brooklyn Cyclones (34-37) vs. Aberdeen IronBirds (38-33) – 7:05 p.m.

  • Infield prospect Jesus Baez was promoted to Brooklyn to start the week. The 19-year-old has a double in each of his first two games with the Cyclones and one stolen base overall.
  • Right-hander Jonah Tong was dominant on Wednesday for Brooklyn. He allowed only one run and struck out 11 in six innings.
  • Right-hander Kade Morris starts tonight for Brooklyn. The former third-round pick is coming off a solid six innings and two runs allowed in his last start.

St. Lucie Mets (22-39) vs. Palm Beach Cardinals (40-30) – 6:30 p.m.

  • Infielder Boston Baro has a .915 OPS with eight walks compared to only four strikeouts in his last 13 games.
  • Right-handed Edgar Moreta gets the start for St. Lucie.
