New York State Police report that the NYS Thruway Exit 27 ramp in Amsterdam is closed due to an overturned tractor-trailer. Crews are on the scene for clean up, as the tandem tractor-trailer was carrying hydrogen peroxide. Also, the 21-year-old man who is accused of raping a minor appeared in Albany City Court on Thursday afternoon for a preliminary hearing. One person has died and another is seriously injured after a crash in Guilderland. The crash happened around 3925 Western Turnpike on Thursday at 6:50 a.m.
3. Asylum seeker in court for alleged rape of minor
The 21-year-old man who is accused of raping a minor appeared in Albany City Court on Thursday afternoon for a preliminary hearing. Sakir Akkan was previously arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty.
4. Residents say Albany fire narrowly avoided fatalities
A second alarm fire broke out in the South End early this morning. Four people were taken to the hospital, no fatalities were reported. However, NEWS10 caught up with one resident who said they narrowly avoided fatalities.
5. New name, new owners: The Wild Horse to open in Saratoga
What was once known as Dango’s is now called The Wild Horse. After extensive renovations, the bar and restaurant at 38 Caroline Street in downtown Saratoga Springs is soon reopening under new ownership.
