She shared the DIY job she completed with her partner on social media.

Emily first used some weed fabric to cover her original garden fence – which meant any holes in the fence were also covered.

After she used some Wickes bargains to create a gorgeous panelled effect fence.

She said: “Firstly, we tacked some black weed control fabric to the fence to hide the old fence panel.”

The DIY whizz then got some timber slats form Wickes and cut them to size and drilled them vertically onto the fence so she could drill the panels into them.

Emily also shared a top tip to make sure your panelling was even throughout.

“We used one of the cutoffs from the slats to put in between each time so that you get the same gap all the way down the fence,” she explained.

After drilling them in place Emily was done with her DIY project and her garden looked much more modern then before.

Another video saw her breakdown the full cost of the fencing.

She wrote: “Based on the wood we intended to buy: 6 x pack of 10 Treated Sawn Timber from Wickes – £45 each, 2 x single Treated Sawn Timber Slats – £5 each.

“Total cost = £280 for 2 fence panels,” as Emily already had the weed fabric and screw to hand.

Emily also noted that they would be treating the wood to make sure it lasts no matter the weather.

Emily also noted that her fence makeover was done on her neighbour’s fence panels but they were happy to let her complete the job.

People were quick to take to the comments of her video posted to her TikTok account @home.number.fourteen and congratulate her on her hard work.

How high can a garden fence be?

Despite what many people think a garden fence can be as high as 100m but you need to get planning permission for any fence taller than 2m.

Any fence under 2m does not need planning permission.

However, there are some complications to this.

If you are thinking about front garden fences, restrictions state that fences alongside a driveway can be a maximum of 1m or 3ft.

You would need to get planning permission for putting a trellis on a fence of 2m.

But, if any plant that you grow on that trellis exceeds 2m, you do not need to obtain a permit for the growing plant.

One person wrote: “I wanna do this to ours.”

Another commented: “Smart.”

“Looks lovely,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Looks amazing, looks so good.”

“Good job both of you,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Obsessed with this hun. Looks amazing.”
