Reddit user Thehraav found a simple solution to her skin issue.

She revealed in a post on the platform that she thought it was “severe hyperpigmentation,” but it turned out to be something else entirely.

“Turns out it was just dead skin and peach fuzz,” she said.

She shared two photos of her face that were taken a few days apart.

“Didn’t change anything other than reducing my sun exposure and being even more diligent with the sunscreen,” she explained.

The Reddit user said she completed her regular skincare routine as usual.

It consisted of Klairs 5% vitamin C, moisturizer, Cosrx SPF 50 Aloe Sunscreen, $16, in the morning, and tretinoin 0.05% on alternate evenings.

In the before and after images, you can visibly see how much brighter and glowy her cheeks look.

Although these were staples in her routine, she claimed that the secret to her glowing complexion was a simple bodily maintenance method.

“Who would’ve thought that just shaving the face could make so much of a difference?!” she said.

Dermaplaning is a low-risk facial procedure that exfoliates and removes facial hair.

The treatment also removes the very top layers of dead skin cells.

Many people apply oil first before gently shaving the skin.

“Amazing results! I’m always hesitant because I’ve seen people say dermaplaning does the opposite but your skin looks great,” another Redditor commented.

They also asked her how long it took to see results and how often she did the procedure.

She decided to offer some caution based on her overall experience.

  • Keep your skin hydrated internally by drinking water and externally with moisturizer.
  • Always use sunscreen, even if you’re not in direct sunlight.
  • Use Vitamin C to brighten the skin and don’t forget to apply to your neck.

“I was really really scared I must say because many years back I had tried one of those straight razors meant for the face and it gave me a horrible razor burn which ruined my skin,” she said.

Because she didn’t know how much pressure to put while shaving, she admitted that she got a razor burn, severe inflammation, and “a lot of burning.”

After that, she was “extremely weary” of trying it again, until recently.

“Honestly, I’m really new to this. It’s just the second time in years that I’ve tried this, and that too on a whim. I had a very slippy moisturizer on and noticed the peach fuzz,” she explained.

She admitted that she “reluctantly” moved a Gilette Mach 3 razor over one tiny patch on her face, and when she realized it wasn’t causing her any redness or razor burn, she continued.

She said she did it “very gently” and “with a gentle hand.”

The Reddit user then went ahead slowly over her cheeks, temples, and forehead.

The original poster also said that she added blackout curtains to her room, which she thinks made a difference.
