Drug network disrupted in Poughkeepsie, three arrested

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of three people following a drug investigation in Poughkeepsie.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of three people following a drug investigation in Poughkeepsie. Jesus Rios-Reyes, Norma Suazo-Ortiz, and Marco Antonio Martinez-Marinowere are all facing multiple charges.

On Thursday, numerous search warrants were executed at several locations in Poughkeepsie in connection to a long-standing investigation led by the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office Drug Task Force into the sale of drugs in the city. The searches reportedly yielded large quantities of packaged cocaine and meth as well as cash, all of which were seized in addition to two vehicles.

Rios-Reyes, Suazo-Ortiz and Martinez-Marinowere were identified as suspects and taken into custody as a result of the searches. All three now face the following charges:

• Criminal possession of a narcotic drug (four or more ounces)
• Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance - intent to sell
• Criminal possession of methamphetamine (one-eighth ounce or more)

"These arrests reflect our continued commitment to take drug dealers off our streets. We cannot accept people profiting from the misery of addiction while also threatening the safety of our community," said Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi. "We will continue to collaborate with our partners in law enforcement to work towards a community free from dangerous drugs and those who seek to profit from their proliferation."

The three were arraigned at the City of Poughkeepsie Court before being remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center without bail. The investigation remains ongoing.
