Glens Falls officials give update on DRI progress

The city of Glens Falls Downtown Revitalization Initiative streetscaping project is on track to be completed by Wednesday, July 31.

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The city of Glens Falls Downtown Revitalization Initiative streetscaping project is on track to be completed by Wednesday, July 31. Elm Street, Exchange Street, and Park Street are the project's main focus, and landscape and infrastructure repairs have been made.

Water and sewer drainage repairs on Elm Street, from Pine Street to Park Street, and Exchange Street have been completed, while other repairs are still being made. Roughly 90% of the curb and sidewalk upgrades and 75% of street light and landscape restoration have been achieved. Street resurfacing has yet to be started but remains on track for the DRI project's completion date.

Park Street repairs are from School Street to Glen Street, and the water and sewer drainage, street light repairs, and landscape restoration are 50% complete. Curb and sidewalk repairs are 25% complete, and street resurfacing will begin soon.

Mayor Bill Collins said the DRI projects are creating safer streets, helping the environment, and adding to the city's attractiveness. "The intent of the DRI is to lift a long downtrodden area of our city. It is great to see this piece of it nearing completion," Collins said.
