Albany man found guilty in illegal weapon case
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County District Attorney's Office announced that a guilty verdict has been reached in an illegal firearm case. James Ford, 52, of Albany, was convicted on Friday of two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon following a jury trial at the Albany County Court.
According to the initial indictment, Ford was illegally in possession of a pistol and an assault weapon near 475 South Pearl Street in Albany on September 3, 2023. He was taken into custody that night by Albany Police.
A single charge of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon carries a possible sentence of up to 15 years in prison. Ford is scheduled to be sentenced on August 23.
