Fatal Clifton Park crash victim identified

State Police identified the victim involved in a fatal crash on Wednesday night in Clifton Park.

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- State Police identified the victim involved in a fatal crash on Wednesday night in Clifton Park. Troopers said Christopher E. Merritt, 41, of Spring Hill, Florida, was killed after a vehicle struck him on NY 146 near the intersection of US 9.

The crash happened at 10:23 p.m. when Merritt was walking across the road, not in a crosswalk, and he was hit by two vehicles traveling eastbound, according to Troopers. Both cars stopped to call 911 and have been entirely cooperative with the investigation.

The crash closed part of NY 146 and all eastbound lanes between Fire Road in Clifton Park and US 9 in Halfmoon for roughly four hours while the investigation and collision reconstruction were conducted.
