COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A man wanted by the Columbus Division of Police was arrested in Toledo, a year and a half after a man was found shot and killed in north Columbus, the U.S. Marshal’s Office said in a release.

Amira Reid, wanted for the murder of Juan Aleman, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in the 400 block of Southgate Circle in Toledo Thursday evening.

The case, adopted by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), led investigators to Toledo after it was discovered Reid fled the Columbus area. Police believe that Reid is connected to the incident, which took place on Jan. 9, 2023, but did not state what led to the shooting or how Reid may have been involved.

Reid was wanted for the murder of Aleman, who was found suffering with a gunshot wound in the 500 block of Riverview Drive in the Riverview neighborhood. Officers responded at 10:15 a.m. and pronounced Aleman dead at the scene several minutes later.

Police identified Aleman as the victim one week later, but the case produced few leads until recently. Reid was booked into the Lucas County Jail, where he will wait to be extradited to Columbus on murder charges.
