Why Jennifer Lopez's Amazon Documentary Was a 'Real Eye-Opener' Her & Ben Affleck

When Jennifer Lopez’s highly anticipated documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, was released on Amazon in February, fans had a lot of questions about her relationship with Ben Affleck. The couple seemed to be on different pages regarding their love. Well, the internet might not have been off base with that assumption as the once dynamic duo navigates their reported separation.

It seems that the making of the documentary might have been a critical moment in their marriage — it’s what an In Touch source described as “a real eye-opener for them.” Lopez had taken intimate love letters that her husband had written to her and shared them with songwriters for her This Is Me… Now album. The exchange on-camera about the situation was rather uncomfy. 

“Things that are private I had always felt are sacred and special in part because they’re private,” Affleck said in the documentary. “So, this was something of an adjustment for me.”

“I don’t think he’s very comfortable with me doing all of this,” J.Lo responded. “But he loves me, he knows I’m an artist, and he’s gonna support me in every way he can because he knows he can’t stop me.” But love isn’t always enough because there were obvious boundaries that were crossed. According to the In Touch source, they keep returning to the idea that “they both just want different things out of life.” Affleck would rather live his life away from the spotlight,” and “Jennifer loves being the center of attention.” 

For right now, the couple is estranged while keeping things as friendly as possible, but both A-listers appear to be making separate moves away from each other. Lopez enjoyed a solo holiday to Italy and then a stopover at Paris Fashion Week while Affleck doesn’t seem interested in returning to their $61 million Beverly Hills estate. According to People, the 51-year-old actor removed all his belongings from the property. “Ben continues to live at the Brentwood rental. He’s been there for about two months now,” a second insider added. “He seems okay. He’s been at his office every day and seems focused on work. He’s also spending time with his kids.”

Affleck and Lopez haven’t said anything publicly about their marriage or possible separation, but this could be the end of Bennifer 2.0 — a tale that might not have a happy ending.
