Shalom Food Pantry preps for Battle of the Barbecues

Shalom Food Pantry is hosting the Battle of the Barbecues for the seventh year on Sunday.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Shalom Food Pantry is hosting the Battle of the Barbecues for the seventh year on Sunday. The barbecue competition is a fun event for the family and a call to raise awareness of food security and the pantry's work.

With an attendance of over 400 people, eight teams will compete for the title of Ultimate Barbecue Champion. The competition is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Albany Jewish Community Center, where attendees can taste kosher steak and chicken wings.

Shalom Food Pantry is a volunteer-based organization that uses Battle of the Barbecues as a fundraiser to support its mission of providing healthy food packages for Albany families and individuals struggling financially.
