Nottingham Forest eye shock John Egan free transfer with Sheffield United captain, 31, yet to sign new deal
NOTTINGHAM FOREST are keen on snapping up experienced centre-half John Egan from Sheffield United.
Forest are trying to move out Joe Worrall and want a similar kind of defender to replace him in their squad.
Egan, 31, is a free agent and doing his rehab from injury at Blades — who could offer him a new deal.
The club captain only managed seven appearances across all competitions last season.
The Republic of Ireland international was dogged by a foot injury that didn’t allow him to help Sheffield United during a tough season.
The Blades returned to the Championship after finishing bottom of the Premier League table.
Egan moved to Bramall Lane in 2018 from Brentford and rose to prominence.
The defender went on to amass a total of eight goals and five assists in 224 appearances.
Nottingham Forest just managed to avoid relegation but ultimately remained in the Premier League for the second year in a row after their return to the top flight in 2022.
Forest finished 17th in the table with six points away from the drop zone.
