Exact date Next is launching its 50% off summer sale – how you can spot secret codes for special bargains

NEXT is launching its summer sale within days – but there are secret codes that reveal special bargains ahead of time.

The retail giant is due to launch its 50% off seasonal discounts next week, and shoppers are already preparing to grab a deal.

The fashion chain gives exclusive online access to its VIP members before the sale is launched in-store, and it has been sending out invites this weekend.

The Next seasonal sales are always a hit with shoppers as it offers at least 50% off sale items, including reductions on brands like Adidas, Nike, Ted Baker and Superdry.

Huge discounts don’t just apply to clothing and fashion brands either, big savings can be found on items including homeware, bedding and accessories.

Although Next has not officially confirmed the date of the sale, Next VIP members have been taking to social media to share the details.

One person shared a post to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group that said: “Next VIP sale slots are out!”

The post was accompanied by a picture of their invitation to book in for the 45-minute shopping slot.

Usually, when Next launches an online sale to VIP customers, it is a good indicator that the main sale will launch in stores the following weekend.

Other shoppers responding to the post commented that the main sale will launch in stores next Saturday, July 6.

The Sun has approached Next for confirmation.

If you’re planning on waiting until the sale launches in store, you can find your nearest branch by visiting www.next.co.uk/stores.

Note that each store may have different opening hours, so it’s best to check with your local branch before going.

SPOT SALE CODES AHEAD OF TIME

You can still spot secret codes and grab a bargain in-store even without a VIP slot.

Last year, savvy shoppers devised a clever way to predict which items will be in the sale ahead of time.

Items are usually marked by staff in the days before the sale starts.

The codes are written in pencil on the price tag, and the numbers next to the letters generally indicate the sale price of the item.

Therefore, if you want to visit your local store and earmark a bargain, you should keep your eyes peeled.

Note that each store may have different opening hours, so it’s best to check with your local branch before going.

Usually on the day of the Next sale, some stores open as early as 6am meaning some shoppers can be queuing in the early hours of the morning.

SIGN UP FOR FUTURE VIP SLOTS

To receive a VIP Sale invite you will need to have successfully opened a nextpay credit account ahead of any event.

So, it’s too late to become a VIP for this event, but you can always sign up ahead of the next one.

However, be careful when taking out a store card and make sure it is something you can afford to pay off.

Interest rates can be very high, so you need to make sure you can pay them off in full each month.

Otherwise, the amount paid in interest will counteract the savings you make in the sale.

Other requirements to become a Next VIP include:

  • Having a Next flexible credit account with at least £250 credit available
  • Placing and keeping an order from the Next Directory within the last year
  • Having an up-to-date email address registered with Next, and being registered to receive sale and promotional emails
  • Receiving a copy of the Next Directory
  • Returning less than two-thirds of the items ordered

All VIP sale slots are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and they’re restricted to one per customer.

Users have the best chance of getting amazing deals by accepting the first slot they’re allocated because things can sell out quickly.

As always, remember when shopping in any sale, it’s only a bargain if it is something you were looking to purchase anyway.

If you are buying because something is discounted, then you are not necessarily saving money.

How to make the most of the Next sale

THESE tips from a Next employee can help you make sure you bag the best bargains when the sale launches.

  1. Familiarise yourself with the stock – check in store and online to see what items you might fancy, that means you’ll be able to act fast once prices start dropping.
  2. Check online – often the sale launches online before stores open so go digital to get the best bargains.
  3. Consider the VIP scheme  – if you have a credit account you can get access to the sale before the general public.
  4. Choose the right store – smaller outlets are likely to be less rammed, so you may have less competition for deals.
  5. Shop late in the day – around two hours before closing, staff start replenishing stock for the next day, so this is a great time to hit the stores.
  6. Look at ticket codes – if you’re in a Next keep an eye out for black dots on tickets; chances are that means an item is going to be discounted, so you’re better off waiting till the price drops.
  7. Homeware and women’s clothing sells fastest – so you might want to get to stores first thing for these items.
