The voting process in the French parliamentary elections has begun amidst polls predicting a potential defeat for President Emmanuel Macron’s party, La République En Marche.

Le Monde reported that the voting process for the French parliamentary elections started at 8 AM today, Sunday, June 30th.

Emmanuel Macron dissolved the French parliament following the victory of the right-wing party “Rassemblement National” in the European Parliament elections and announced early elections.

Recent polls indicate that Macron’s party, La République En Marche (Renaissance), is expected to secure only 20% of the total votes, while Rassemblement National, led by Jordan Bardella, is set to lead with 36%.

Le Monde reported that if Rassemblement National wins, it will dominate the political landscape in France for the first time in at least nine decades.

Under the leadership of 28-year-old Jordan Bardella, this party has promised stringent immigration policies to French citizens.
