I’m a vet tech & treated a cat with the most outrageous name – it earned its moniker after a run-in with baby Jesus

A VET tech has admitted they were left speechless by the name one animal lover gave their cat.

They revealed there’s an amusing story behind the unconventional pet name inspired by an encounter with “baby Jesus.”

They shared their experience as a vet tech on Reddit’s Veterinary forum in response to a post about “outrageous pet names.”

“Cat named I Ate Baby Jesus because, well, he ate baby Jesus,” they said, writing under the handle Squishyedna.

“Then there was Not Bob because the kids didn’t want to name him Bob.”

Many people upvoted the post and a commenter was left in hysterics over the bizarre name.

“He… Ate baby Jesus?” they asked.

“You can’t just bring that up casually without elaborating.

“How many times have you had to explain to someone why you suddenly proclaimed that you ate baby Jesus after they asked for the cat’s name?”

MISCHIEVOUS MOGGY

The vet tech revealed they had known the owner of the pet for many years and the name was given after a memorable Christmas when the cat was young.

“When he was young he ended up at the e-clinic at Christmas time where they had found that he had eaten baby Jesus out of the manger scene the owners had put out,” they said.

“One successful surgery later he went on to live a long healthy life.

“It was always an interesting time calling scripts into pharmacies for him.

“Either the person on the other side of the line had heard of him before, or you get a long pause then an ‘Excuse me?’”

NAME GAME

It wasn’t the only pet name that shocked the 63,000 members of the Reddit forum.

One vet tech listed the names of several animals that they’ve treated.

“Big grey fluffy cat named Lunch Box,” they wrote.

“A stray cat someone found named Wal Mart (where he was found).

“A family had an orange cat named black Spiderman because their child named it.

“Sphynx cat siblings named Velcro and Sticker A big goofy lab named Rudy No, oftentimes the owner was always saying Rudy No stop doing that.

“A pug named Miss Pugglesworth.

“My own childhood cat was named Arnett (Arnettypoo) as she started off as an Arnold and Arnold had kittens.

“These are just on the top of my head I am sure I will think of more but I love the funny names that come into the clinic.”

Signs your dog could turn dangerous

Expert advice from Dr. Sara Ochoa, who has been practicing veterinary medicine for over five years.

Ochoa told The U.S. Sun observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that they might act out.

“A dog that looks tense all over with its fur sticking up or teeth showing is more likely to snap,” she said.

“Staring real hard without blinking could mean trouble too.

“Growling is also a warning the dog is getting mad.”

She said dogs may tuck their tail between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.

“Staying calm and keeping space may help things not to escalate if a dog seems on edge,” she said.

“Just imagine how I felt calling out for a Dalmatian puppy named ‘Cruella De Vil’ to be seen,” another said.

A third person revealed they had deliberately given their pet cat an unusual name.

“I named my cat McNugget because a Good Samaritan found her at a McDonald’s and brought her in as a stray,” they said.

“A family we saw through ER had a golden retriever whose official name was ‘The Blob’ because he was really overweight when they got him.

“They called him Blobby for short.”
