Brundel conducted a pre-recorded interview with Mercedes chief Toto Wolff, in which the pair discussed the idea of championship leader Max Verstappen moving to the team in 2026.

Following the broadcast, Brundel appeared alongside fellow presenters Natalia Pinkham and Naomi Schiff to discuss the topic further.

He then went on to his famous gridwalk, where he mingled with drivers as well as famous faces like Star Wars creator George Lucas.

He also chatted to Oscar-winning compose Hans Zimmer and enjoyed a reunion with Flavio Briatore, his former boss at Benetton during his racing career.

It marks his first public appearance since The Sun exclusively revealed that he was spending time apart from Liz Brundle, his wife of 40 years.

Sources say that the couple hit a “rocky patch”, with Brundle consistently away for work.

One person familiar with the situation said: “Martin and Liz are going through a rocky patch.

“He’s been away a lot recently and she’s not seen much of him.

“Things aren’t going well for them.”

Liz has since confirmed the report but denied that the marriage was over.

She told The Sun on Sunday: “We are spending some time apart but we are married and together.”

Young Love

The couple were college sweethearts and met while studying in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

They have two sons – Alex, 33, and 36-year-old Charlie.

Their youngest has followed in his dad’s slipstream, racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – which his father won in 1990.

Brundle very rarely discusses his private life and rarely posts about personal matters on social media.

Indeed, no photos of Liz appear on his Instagram page.

Back in March, though, Alex posted a touching message to Liz for Mother’s Day.

He wrote: “Happy mother’s day to the one and only Lizzie Brunders.

“Thank you for everything you have done for me.”

I think it’s been a damaging story for Christian and Red Bull and all of Formula One

Martin Brundle

The news comes after Brundle spoke candidly in February about the Red Bull probe into claims of inappropriate behaviour by team principal Christian Horner.

A female employee of the team claimed that Horner sent her “sexually suggestive” messages, but the complaint was dismissed by the investigation.

Commenting on the complaint at the time, Brundle said: “Christian Horner has been pivotal to Red Bull’s success.

“I know absolutely nothing about the current situation. I’m as confused as anybody else in Formula One.

“I think the problem of making no comment whatsoever on what may or may not have happened is that mud sticks.

“It’s a global story. I think it’s been a damaging story for Christian and Red Bull and all of Formula One.”
