New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah celebrated India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory with his family after the Men in Blue ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought on Saturday by defeating South Africa in the final. In an emotional post-match celebration, Bumrah placed his winner’s medal around his nine-month-old son Angad’s neck, encapsulating the essence of the moment and highlighting the deep connection he felt with his loved ones.
He also gave a warmly hug to wife Sanjana Ganesan, who also happens to be a cricket presenter. Bumrah was one of the India players who was interviewed by Ganesan for ICC’s social media channels. The pacer got emotional while specking post match and shared a profound joy of celebrating his victory with his family by his side.

Bumrah was truly unplayable throughout the whole tournament with ball. In the final too, Bumrah delivered a masterclass spell of 2/18 in his four overs. With 15 wickets at an astonishing economy of 4.17, Bumrah’s exceptional bowling performance also earned him the Player of the Tournament award. He thus joined Virat Kohli as the only Indian players to have won the Player of the Tournament awards in a T20 World Cup.
Speaking on his approach towards the game and staying calm under pressure, Bumrah said, “I tried to keep calm. We play the sport for this, I am really over the moon, my son is here, family is here, we’ve been working really hard towards this, no better feeling than that. We play sport for the big stages.”
“On the big day, you have to give more, throughout the tournament I felt very clear and calm. At my peak mindset I think of one ball at a time. The emotions can take over, but now the job is done,” he added. India skipper Rohit Sharma too didn’t miss any chance to praise his leading fast bowler. “Jasprit, I don’t know how he does it. He backs his skills… a confident lad,” Rohit said in admiration. The on-field celebration with his family showcased Bumrah’s human side, demonstrating that even amidst the thrill of victory, family remains a top priority.
