Hood River Bridge re-opens 3 days after crash closed it

Three days after a semi-truck crash closed it, the Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge reopened, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Three days after a semi-truck crash closed it, the Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge reopened, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

The crash involving a semi-truck caused “severe damage” to the Hood River Bridge. The Port of Hood River closed the bridge to give engineers time to inspect it.

On Sunday, officials re-opened the bridge.

"Electronic tolling will be implemented, and traffic control personnel will be stationed at both entrances around the clock to ensure compliance. A schedule for the permanent repairs will be provided later in the week," officials said in a release.
