Anna, who plays DI Mackenzie Clarke, shared that she is ‘heartbroken’ now that filming on the series has wrapped.

The actress gushed about the experience of working alongside her co-stars on social media, saying: “I got to spend the last three months with these three lads.

“I love them more than I can say. We wrapped our show this week and my heart is broken that they will no longer be contractually obliged to spend time with me.”

Little is known about the roles of the other cast members, but in the snap Anna posted she can be seen posing at a bar alongside actors Tai Hara, Lloyd Griffith, and Aaron McGrath.

Death in Paradise fans shared their excitement about the new murder mystery set Down Under.

One person exclaimed: “Can’t wait to see this next installment in the Paraverse!”

Another chimed in: “So looking forward to seeing you all on screen, bringing Death to life down under.”

Her co-star Tai joked: “Nah we can write up a new contract?”

In Return to Paradise, Anna’s character finds her life as part of London’s police force turned upside down when she’s accused of tampering with evidence.

The allegations force a reluctant return to her hometown of Dolphin Cove, Australia.

Having not been in the town for six years, Mackenzie has some awkward ghosts from her past to face – including the fiancé she ditched at the altar.

With little option but to accept a job on the police force there, she will be balancing her personal and professional life as she solves the numerous murders that cross her desk.

BBC’s Head of Programme Acquisition Sue Deeks hinted that long time fans of the detective show will be delighted by the new series, saying: “Everything we all love about Death in Paradise – the humour, the beautiful scenery, the likeable characters, the ingenious plots – now in a fabulous Australian setting.

“I cannot wait for BBC viewers to be introduced to Detective Mack and the good (and not so good!) folk of Dolphin Cove. What a treat we have in store!”
