From today, customers purchasing EVs from Volkswagen‘s stable of brands can opt for OVO Energy’s ‘Charge Anytime’ add-on.

These include the likes of Audi, CUPRA, SEAT, Skoda, and Volkswagen’s own motors and commercial vehicles.

This service promises to improve home charging convenience and affordability.

10,000 Free Miles Plus Credit

Under the new scheme, customers who integrate ‘Charge Anytime’ into their OVO Energy plan will receive £212.12 in credit.

This credit is designed to cover up to 10,000 miles of driving, leveraging OVO Beyond’s competitive rate of just 7p per kWh.

This ensures that drivers can charge their vehicles economically at any time of the day or night, capitalising on the lowest carbon emissions and power prices.

Moreover, Volkswagen and OVO Energy sweeten the deal with an anniversary bonus of 1,000 free miles annually for up to three years, making sustainability even more rewarding over time.

Making the Switch

Kate Jeffreys, Volkswagen Group UK’s electric vehicle lead, expressed excitement over the partnership’s potential to simplify the EV ownership experience.

She said: “Buying, owning, and driving an electric vehicle is simple and easy—and fun

“We hope this latest addition to our holistic offering will be another attractive piece of the jigsaw for consumers.”

Mat Moakes, OVO’s chief commercial officer, echoed this as OVO look to help motorists into a smooth transition to EVs.

Moakes said: “OVO is committed to helping customers transition to an electric vehicle.

“Together with Volkswagen Group, we are rewarding customers for making the switch to an EV.”

Accessible Charging Solutions

In addition to home charging solutions, OVO Energy’s ‘Charge Anywhere’ service further enhances accessibility with discounted rates at over 34,000 public EV chargers across the UK and Europe.

This approach supports drivers wherever their journeys take them, cementing OVO Energy in the EV charging landscape.

The announcement coincides with Volkswagen’s recent investment plans in US-based EV manufacturer Rivian, which could see the brand rival the likes of Tesla.

Meanwhile, going electric could now be cheaper than ever with deals and grants being rolled out.

In fact, one popular motor has now become one of the cheapest EVs on the market after a major price slash.

How Charge Anytime works

The clever tech behind the OVO Energy app means users can always charge their cars at the greenest times when they smart charge. They can also get personalised insights into charging habits, and see how much money is being saved with Charge Anytime credits. All managed through the handy app. Here’s how:

Opt in to smart charging: Just connect the EV or charger with an OVO account and opt in for EV smart charging.

Set your EV to charge: Drivers can choose when they want their EV charged, and OVO will work out the greenest time to charge.

Check credit: OVO have added Charge Anytime credit to driver’s bill each month, so the bill always reflects their promised smart charging rate of 7p per kWh.
