East Bay pets of the week for July 5

Area shelters’ dogs and cats need their "forever" homes.

Hi, I’m Sally! I’m a happy-go-lucky gal who would love to join your pack! My cute snoot will make you swoon … and I have a silly personality to boot! When I’m not zooming around, I’m investigating my new home, searching for the best places to wind down with a chew toy. As a puppy, it’ll be a lot of work, but it will be fun and totally worth it! Visit the website of the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society at berkeleyhumane.org to learn more and schedule a meeting with me.

Are you looking for a bit of a pick me up? Fluffy, 4-year-old Siberian Husky mix Latte might do the trick.

A big softy who’s also a quick leaner, Latte loves playtime and showing his skills for some treats, and is just as happy to crash on the couch after a long day. Latte’s adoption fees are half-off through July 13 as part of our Huskypalooza! promotion — come meet this fluffy boy in Dublin! The East Bay SPCA offers walk-in adoptions at its Oakland and Dublin campuses from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For updated and real-time information on programs and offerings, visit eastbayspca.org/adoptions.

Bingo checks so many boxes for a highly adoptable dog. He’s affectionate, fun and loves people. He’s good with kids (older kids are preferable because of his activity level). He even gets along great with other dogs after proper introduction. Oh, and did we mention his ears? They give Bingo an endearing, permanently curious look. Learn more on his bio page, and visit him Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, Alameda. Adoption fees for adult dogs like Bingo are only $20 through July! To meet Bingo, call 510-337-8565 or visit alamedaanimalshelter.org/adopt.

This is Sparky. He’s a 1 1/2-year-old terrier mix. He’s crate trained, walks well on leash and is a good car rider, crated or loose. Whoever adopts him will need balls to chase and toys to play with, not to mention ropes to tug. This guy was picked up as a stray, completely misjudged by the shelter evaluator and almost lost his life. We were in the right place at the right time and he’s now thriving with his foster. For more information about Sparky or any other adoptable pets with the Contra Costa SPCA, call Pat at 925-323-0667.
