Booking certain seats can really effect you flight experience.

If you are willing to pay extra to reserve a better spot, you can follow our handy plane map to ensure you get the seat that suits your needs.

Whether you’re after a better view or the extra legroom in the best TikTok-worthy spots, we reveal which seats to look out for and which seats to avoid.

Extra leg room

The affordable airline pride themselves on offering families holidays for less but spacious seats onboard their aircraft isn’t always promised.

But thankfully, TUI have more than one type of aircraft.

TUI operates a fleet of 67 aircraft, consisting of 53 narrow body jets and 14 widebodies, and with plans to increase its Boeing 737 and 787 Dreamliner fleet, holidaymakers will be offered some more leg room to chose from.

Seats 12A and 12J are standard economy yet offer extra legroom.

Seats 13A to 13F, 14A to 14F, and 15A to 15C, 32A and 32J on the Tui Boeing 787 offer extra legroom due to the proximity to the exit as well as seats 32B to 32F.

Getting off the plane first

If you hate waiting around and you’re keen to start your holiday then beat the queues by booking a seat in the front five rows.

Failing that, you’re guaranteed to get off the plane quicker by simply booking an aisle seat, because you’ll have a head start at finding your hand luggage.

On most TUI flights passengers will also be able to disembark at the back of the aircraft – although this is dependent on the airport and isn’t guaranteed.

If you’re in a rush, or just desperate to get off the plane, it’s best to book a seat at the front of the plane.

Best views

One of the best things about taking a flight are the breathtaking views, but not every seat provides those photo opportunities.

The Dreamliner features LED lighting throughout the aircraft and is equipped with windows 30 percent larger than conventional airplanes and instead of blinds, passengers can use a dimmer switch to control the tint of the window, providing more ambience and better viewing points.

If you are looking to capture the views during your flight, you should be booking a window seat that’s located between rows 12 and 15.

Whether you’re flying over the Grand Canyon or floating above the clouds at sunset, being seated near the wing of the Dreamliner guarantees the best skyline snaps.

Head start on snacks

If you want to be among one of the first passengers to be served refreshments to get you going on a long flight, then it’s best to book a seat in either the first two rows or in row 30 at the back of the plane.

With trolley carts circulating from both the front and the back of the aircraft, these seats will make sure you get served.

Take a nap

If you’re on an overnight flight you might like to get some sleep so that you arrive to your destination energised.

Window seats give passengers the best chance at having uninterrupted snooze.

This is because other passengers won’t be able to disturb you by asking you to move when they need to get up for a trip to the toilet.

According to Tui’s seating plan, seats on the first row until the 5th row are all standard recliner seats with regular legroom and comfort.

But, aside from seats 6G and 6J, other seats on the 6th row are all standard recliner seats.recline which will provide you the optimum chance to sleep comfortably.

Seats to avoid

Seat 29A is a seat to avoid as it’s close to the toilets and hasn’t got a window.

Seats 44A to 44C, and 44G to 44J are on the plane’s last row and have bad reviews because they offer limited recline.

Also seats 45D and 45F are standard seats with less comfort because of their closeness to the toilets and the gallery which will mean you are constantly disturbed by other passengers and the cabin crew.

Other bad seats o the 787-9 cabin include seat 46D to 46F on the plane’s last row, which means you will be among the last passengers to decline the aircraft which will only add to your frustration.

Flight compensation rules

What are my rights if my flight is cancelled or delayed?

Under UK law, airlines have to provide compensation if your flight arrives at its destination more than three hours late.

If you’re flying to or from the UK, your airline must let you choose a refund or an alternative flight.

You will be able to get your money back for the part of your ticket that you haven’t used yet.

So if you booked a return flight and the outbound leg is cancelled, you can get the full cost of the return ticket refunded.

But if travelling is essential, then your airline has to find you an alternative flight. This could even be with another airline.

When am I not entitled to compensation?

The airline doesn’t have to give you a refund if the flight was cancelled due to reasons beyond their control, such as extreme weather.

Disruptions caused by things like extreme weather, airport or air traffic control employee strikes or other ‘extraordinary circumstances’ are not eligible for compensation.

Some airlines may stretch the definition of the “extraordinary circumstances” but you can challenge them through the aviation regulator the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Will my insurance cover me if my flight is cancelled?

If you can’t claim compensation directly through the airline, your travel insurance may refund you.

Policies vary so you should check the small print, but a delay of eight to 12 hours will normally mean you qualify for some money from your insurer.

Remember to get written confirmation of your delay from the airport as your insurer will need proof.

If your flight is cancelled entirely, you’re unlikely to be covered by your insurance.
