Latin kitchen opens second location in Albany

Viva Empanadas has opened its second location in the former The Bishop space in Albany. The restaurant is in its soft opening phase from July 1 to 5.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Viva Empanadas has opened its second location in the former The Bishop space in Albany. The restaurant is in its soft opening phase from July 1 to 5.

Viva Empanadas' first location is in Latham's Galleria 7 Market. Owner Veronica Agama moved to the Capital Region from New York City in 2022. She originally leased a food truck for Viva Empanadas before finding the spot in Latham.

"I am passionate about bringing something heartwarming to nourish everyone," Agama previously told NEWS10. "Friendly to all diets, budgets, and time caps."

The Albany menu features empanadas, arepas, tamales, tostones, and sandwiches, as well as cocktails, beer and wine. You can view the full menu on the Viva Empanadas website.

The gastropub The Bishop permanently closed in July 2023 after four years. The owners did not give a reason for the closure.

Viva Empanadas in Albany is located at 90 North Pearl Street. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
