Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets’ hits 10 weeks atop Billboard 200, shutting down Gracie Abrams and Peso Pluma

Taylor Swift‘s “The Tortured Poets Department” continued its domination of the Billboard 200 in the tracking week that ended June 27. It achieved another 115,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams. That gives “Tortured Poets” 10 straight weeks in the top spot. Only two Swift albums have had longer runs at number-one, “Fearless” and “1989” with 11 nonconsecutive weeks apiece. Read all about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.

The “Tortured Poets” stranglehold at number-one meant that Swift’s “Eras Tour” opening act Gracie Abrams had to settle for number-two with 89,000 album units for her sophomore album “The Secret of Us.” That was by far her best week ever, though. Last year her debut album, “Good Riddance,” peaked down at number-52. Moving back up one spot to number-three was Morgan Wallen‘s remarkably stable “One Thing at a Time” with 73,000 units. Billie Eilish‘s “Hit Me Hard and Soft” slipped to number-four with 70,000 units. And debuting at number-five with 64,000 units was Peso Pluma‘s sophomore album “Éxodo.”

In our weekly Billboard 200 predictions contest, most game players correctly bet on “The Tortured Poets Department” remaining at number-one and achieving between 100,000 and 149,999 album units. But our consensus was that “Hit Me Hard and Soft” would retain its number-two position; only nine people correctly predicted that it would sink to fourth place. Literally no one thought “The Secret of Us” would debut as high as number-two. Our odds were right, however, that the unsinkable “One Thing at a Time” would place third. And at number-five, “Éxodo” took everyone by surprise; all players who predicted Pluma’s album expected it to launch higher. How did you do betting on this week’s top-five? Find out here.
