Pens bring back Ryan Shea and sign AHL ace Mac Hollowell
Depth signings for the Pens on the blueline
Ryan Shea was an under-the-radar signing for the Pittsburgh Penguins last summer and came out of no where to win an NHL job out of training camp and play a bigger role in 2023-24 season for the Pens than many imagined. Shea went into the free agent pool after his contract expired, but quickly returned to Pittsburgh on a one-year deal.

Shea played 31 NHL games last season and 23 more in the AHL. Adds some depth and gives the team an injury call-up option for next season.
Another important depth signing for the club on the opening day of free agency is Mac Hollowell.

Hollowell, 25, put up 41 assists and 44 points with AHL Hartford last season. As a right shot he should help add a lot to Wilkes next season as one of the better defensemen at the AHL level.
