There’s Friendship Island, Boy Band Island, and now sprouting in Riley’s brain is Money Island. Inside Out 2 has hit a new growth spurt and made over $1 billion globally at the box office, reports Variety; it earned $469.3 million in North America and $545.5 million in other international markets since its release— outgrowing the total box office revenue of the first film. It’s also the fastest animation movie to make a billion in just 19 days, surpassing its cousin Frozen 2, and the Pixar film became the first movie to hit $1 billion this year— only Barbie and Super Mario Bros. surpassed the milestone in 2023. And it’s not even the holiday weekend yet! Especially since the gang of emotions will have stiff competition against another group of animated blobs— the minions in Despicable Me 4, out on Wednesday. Hope Anxiety can handle a few extra bananas thrown at them.
