The Taliban delegation, led by Zabihullah Mujahid, discussed the Afghanistan-Trans project on the sidelines of the third Doha meeting with representatives from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Qatar.

As posted on his social media profile on the X platform, Mujahid underscored the importance of the quadrilateral dialogue among the delegates aimed at advancing the Afghanistan-Trans project.

The Afghanistan-Trans project is a joint initiative to construct a railway connecting Uzbekistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan, which is crucial for fostering connectivity between neighboring countries.

During their quadrilateral meeting, representatives from the participating nations emphasized the urgency of accelerating work on the Afghanistan-Trans project.

Once completed, the Afghanistan-Trans railway will link Central Asia to South Asia, enhancing regional trade and economic cooperation.

Initiated in 2017, the Afghanistan-Trans project has been estimated to require a total investment of $7 billion for its successful implementation.

The project holds significant strategic importance as it aims to bolster regional integration and economic development through enhanced transportation infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the collaborative efforts and discussions among the representatives of nations signify a concerted push towards realizing the transformative potential of the Afghanistan-Trans railway, which is pivotal for regional connectivity and economic growth.

This comes amid increased insecurity in the region, which can be deemed as one of the obstacles to the implementation of the project.
