Wimbledon weather forecast in full with Brits to bask in 18C scorcher & ‘light winds’… but watch out for showers
TENNIS fans will bask in 18C of sunshine with only “light winds” today – bit will have to watch out for showers.
Tuesday will be a damp start for much of the UK, before bright and sunny spells emerge as temperatures rise.
Hundreds camped overnight to get tickets for the opening day of the prestigious tournament on Monday.
And fans today will welcome highs of 18C as day two gets underway with Andy Murray due on Centre Court at 4.45pm, the Met Office says.
Temperatures could reach the low 20s in the south east, with “more sunshine than yesterday” expected.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said: “For some of us it will be a damp start to the day, but there will then be some bright and sunny spells developing in places.
“That damp start will be in the south east, there is still that lingering front left over from yesterday bringing cloud and some drizzly rain, but that is gradually clearing away.”
“Otherwise, some bright or sunny skies developing with just a few showers to look out for until we go through later into the afternoon.
“There will be a bit more sunshine than yesterday, so for some of us it will feel a little bit more pleasant and warmer – mid to high teens widely and low 20s in the south east.”
But the weather is expected to take an unwelcome turn on Wednesday with heavy showers hitting many parts of the UK.
Mr Burkill added: “A relatively cloudy and rather wet start to the day tomorrow.
“Most places will have some outbreaks of rain as we go through the morning, perhaps some heavier bursts, especially in the west.
“After the initial area of wet weather clears away, there will be a secondary band following in behind .
“This could bring some more persistent rain, particularly in western parts, as we go through tomorrow afternoon. In among this there could be some heavier bursts mixed in, too.”
The forecaster has also warned of low clouds, hill fog and “strong blustery winds” on Wednesday.
Sunshine is also expected to be limited “if we see any at all”.
There is some hope in the southeast, though, where temperatures “could scrape into the low 20s” due to high humidity levels.

Thursday to Saturday
Brighter on Thursday with blustery showers. Winds becoming lighter on Friday with outbreaks of rain in the south.
Sunshine and showers on Saturday. Temperatures remaining on the cool side.
