Featured above is the erupting Villarrica Volcano in Chile, set against the firmament, as photographed on December 5, 2023. This was one of Villarica's (9,383 ft or 2,860 m) many Strombolian type eruptions. On this starry night, the Milky Way can be seen extending diagonally to the left of Villarrica's crater. The Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, satellite galaxies to the Milky Way, are at top center and top right, respectively. Note the meteor streaks at lower right.
